A morning in school, talking about sports…

A conference was held on Tuesday, Jan 30th, at the Collegio Sant’Alessandro in Bergamo, on “Sports education”. The most important aspects of running and especially ultra running were explained to 11th, 12th and 13th-graders by Gabriela Monti, filmmaker and explorer, showing two short films about adventures in the South Pole and Canada; by Daniele Carminati, educator and ultra runner, event organiser, who introduced the kids to the concept of resilience; by Marco Zanchi, ultra runner; by Dr. Marco Monguzzi, biologist and sports nutritionist; by Stefano Punzo, osteopath, sports masseur, physiotherapist and Human Tecar Sport Specialist.

The students were then split in three groups to take part in activities during which the speakers shared their knowledge of the preparation to these adventures or races, from the preparation of an adequate mountain race backpack to an athlete’s diet; from the physiotherapy aspect, of paramount importance when training and racing at one’s best abilities, to the mental aspect.
